The Springfield Boys & Girls Club proudly hosted its Legacy & Gratitude BBQ on 8/14/25, bringing together alumni, families, community leaders, and supporters to celebrate the past, honor the present, and look ahead to a bright future for the Club.
The highlight of the event was the dedication of the newly named Sarno Family Park, honoring Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and his family for their longstanding commitment to the youth of Springfield. The Sarno Family Park will serve as a lasting tribute and a welcoming space where generations of Club members can gather, learn, and grow.
Guests enjoyed an afternoon filled with stories, laughter, and connections, along with delicious food generously provided by Outback Steakhouse. The celebration recognized the people and milestones that have shaped the Club’s history while also affirming its mission to inspire and enable young people to reach their full potential.
“We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for this special day,” said Vincent Borello, Executive Director of the Springfield Boys & Girls Club. “The Legacy & Gratitude BBQ was not only a chance to celebrate our history but also an opportunity to honor the families, alumni, and partners whose support ensures that the Club continues to thrive for the next generation.”
The event brought together alumni spanning decades, reaffirming the Club’s deep roots in the Springfield community and the strong bonds that continue to connect its members.
The Springfield Boys & Girls Club extends its heartfelt thanks to the Sarno family, Outback Steakhouse, and all the friends and supporters who made the Legacy & Gratitude BBQ such a memorable success.
