At the Springfield Boys & Girls Club, everything we do centers on creating safe, supportive, and inspiring spaces for young people. Strong leadership makes that possible—and we’re excited to welcome Chiarina “Chiara” Sarno as our new Chief Operating Officer.

Chiara is a proud Springfield native who brings both heart and experience to this role. A graduate of American International College, where she was Salutatorian of her class, she has built her career around youth development, afterschool programs, and meaningful community connection.
Before joining the Club, Chiara served as Education Coordinator for the Springfield Department of Parks, Buildings & Recreation Management. In that role, she led the City’s Afterschool and Summer Enrichment Programs, supporting hundreds of young people and families across Springfield. She focused on creating engaging, well-run programs where youth could learn, grow, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Her passion for youth extends beyond her professional work. As a youth basketball coach in Springfield, Chiara has seen firsthand how teamwork, mentorship, and positive environments can shape confidence and open doors for young people. That same mindset defines her leadership style—collaborative, thoughtful, and focused on bringing out the best in others.
As Chief Operating Officer, Chiara will help strengthen the day-to-day operations of the Springfield Boys & Girls Club. From staff training and program structure to safety and consistency, her work will ensure that every young person who walks through our doors has a positive, high-quality experience.
As we continue to grow and serve more youth across Springfield, Chiara’s leadership will help keep us focused on what matters most—helping every young person reach their full potential.
Please join us in welcoming Chiara to the Club.
