The Springfield Boys & Girls Club recently hosted a special Girls’ Day Celebration on March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day, creating a day dedicated to confidence, creativity, and connection for the girls who call the Club their second home.
Participants also got to select a stuffed animal, cozy sneakers or slippers, and two books featuring strong female leads, combining comfort with a love of reading.

Girls ages 9–13 enjoyed an exciting lineup of activities designed to inspire and empower. From goodie bags and custom Springfield-themed coloring pages to a raffle and an affirmation wall, the event encouraged members to express themselves and celebrate each other. A photo station featuring “Great Futures Start With Her” captured the joy of the day and provided lasting memories with friends.

A highlight of the day was a visit from Jenn Aldworth of the Mass Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, who shared inspiring words about leadership, confidence, and believing in oneself. The Club also recognized two exceptional members recently graduated from the Future Leaders Program, celebrating the positive example they set for their peers.

The celebration wrapped up on a sweet note with cupcakes and cookies donated by a local baker and Club alum, sending the girls into the weekend feeling celebrated and supported.

The event was made possible by the generous support of local women and women-led businesses, including Adanie Nails, Women in Asphalt (All States Materials Group), It Takes A Village, Lulu & Rose Stitches, Build ‘Em Up Fitness, Evolve Her Enterprises, Parties to Remember, and the Springfield Public Library, along with community donors.

Through events like Girls’ Day, the Springfield Boys & Girls Club continues its mission of empowering young people—especially those who need it most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
