The Springfield Boys & Girls Club has long been a safe, supportive, and engaging place for children and families — and the Gallagher family’s story is a shining example. When the Gallaghers moved from Maine, their parents enrolled all nine children at the Club to help them make lifelong friends, learn about different cultural backgrounds, develop leadership skills, and build discipline. Through sports, activities, and daily programs, the children learned teamwork, camaraderie, and how to navigate challenges in a nurturing environment.

For six boys and three girls in the Gallagher family, the Club was more than just an after-school program — it was a second home, a place to grow, belong, and feel safe. Their parents often called it a “godsend,” grateful for the opportunities and support the Club provided.

For the six boys and three girls in the Gallagher family, the Springfield Boys & Girls Club became much more than just an after-school program. It was a place to feel safe, make friends, and belong — a “godsend,” as their parents often described it.
Now, as adults, the Gallagher family is giving back to the Club that helped shape their childhood. They are proudly sponsoring the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner in honor of their parents, Christopher and Flora Gallagher, providing a warm holiday meal for children and families in the Springfield community.

The Gallagher family is also inviting friends, family, and community members to volunteer and support the Club’s mission of empowering youth through safe, enriching programs. By sponsoring this dinner and opening the doors to volunteer opportunities, they are continuing the legacy of community engagement, leadership, and care for future generations.
The Gallagher family’s story highlights how the Springfield Boys & Girls Club not only shapes young lives but also inspires former members to give back, ensuring that children today have access to the same supportive and nurturing environment that helped them thrive.
