Teen Director – Full Time
Reports To: Assistant Executive Director
Overview: The Teen Coordinator is a part-time position within the Springfield Boys & Girls Club. S/He is responsible for the growth and development of the day-to-day operations of an expanding teenage community within the Club. The Teen Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of a broad range of activities and programs geared specifically for teens within the core program areas of Education and Career Development, Character and Leadership Development, Health and Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create an environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
- Promote and stimulate program participation
- Recruit and retain teens from across the city
- Register new members
- Provide guidance and role modeling to teen members
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for all teen members
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure members’ safety, quality of programs and physical appearance of the Club at all times
- Prepare periodic activity reports and provide copies to Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings
- Recruit, select and manage volunteers
- Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcement of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, flyers, media releases and Web site postings
- Work with Director of Development on funding opportunities
- Oversee other members of the teen program staff, as requested by the Assistant Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in the field of education or youth development
- At least six months’ experience working with youth
- High standards in terms of character, integrity and adaptability
- A willingness to learn and adhere to state requirements/regulations
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to relate to both youth and peers
- A team player willing to go the extra mile
- A good problem solver
- Ability to multi-task
- Exceptional communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to Plan, Organize, Direct and Control a Program or Special Event
- Ability to work with families, providing support and access to resources
- A desire to work with a diverse population
- Ability to successfully pass state and federal background checks
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Pass a State & BGCA Safety Background Check
